# Your account: profile, password, appearance and language

Edit your personal profile, change your password, choose language and appearance, and adjust account privacy and notifications.

Your personal account contains the details you use to access MatGoat. You can edit it from your avatar menu by opening your account and then **Edit**. General academy details are managed on a separate screen by its administrators.

## Update your details

In **Edit account**, review your name, email and photo, along with the fields your academy enables. These may include your phone number, date of birth, address or information the academy uses to manage your enrollment.

Update the required details and select **Update account**. If a field is missing, ask the academy: the form depends on its settings. If you change your email, follow any confirmation messages MatGoat requests and retain access to the relevant inbox.

Teachers cannot change your sign-in email for you from your student profile. For access problems, use account recovery or contact support.

## Change your password

Enter the new password in its field. Doing so reveals the confirmation and current-password fields. Complete all three before saving.

If you are only updating your profile, leave the new password blank. If you cannot remember your current password, use the recovery option on the sign-in screen instead of trying several combinations.

Passwords must contain at least eight characters. Use one you do not share with other accounts, and do not send it to staff in messages.

## Choose language and appearance

Under **Language**, select Spanish, English, Portuguese or Italian and save. Your account preference controls your interface; it does not translate plan names, classes or messages written by the academy.

The **Appearance** selector offers three options:

-   **Light** for a light background
-   **Dark** for a dark background
-   **System** to follow your device preference

Appearance applies when you change the selector, without waiting for the entire form to be saved.

## Adjust privacy and notifications

Under **Notification preferences**, configure email and push notices. Under **Privacy preferences**, you can use **Hide me from attendee lists and rankings**. This limits your visibility on those screens; it does not delete records staff need to manage the academy.

Save the preferences and return to your account to check the result. To leave an academy or delete your account, review the dedicated guide before using the removal options.

## Frequently asked questions

### Does changing my account language change it for the whole academy?

No. Your account preference controls your interface. It does not change other users' language or translate class names, plans or messages written by the academy.
