# Add and invite students

Learn how to add students in MatGoat: share the signup link, invite by email, prefill a profile, or create a child without an email address.

You can add a student through an email invitation, a form with prefilled details, or the academy’s signup link. Choose the route according to who will complete the information and whether the person needs their own login. A child without an email address can have a profile managed by the academy.

## Open the appropriate form

In the **Teacher** panel, open **Students** and select **Invite or register student**. Administrators can use this page; a teacher needs permission to send invitations. If the action is missing, ask the administrator to review the teacher’s permissions before creating another account.

The email invitation panel sends an invitation without requiring you to complete the entire profile first. The recipient follows the received link to finish setting up access. This route sends an email. Use the prefilled-details form when you need to create a record without sending that invitation.

## Prefill the student’s details

1.  Open **Prefill student details** and check the profile type
2.  Enter the name and the information requested by your academy’s form
3.  Review the student category, belt and grade where applicable
4.  Check the email option and use the invitation or creation button displayed

The form reflects the academy’s configuration, so personal fields can differ between academies. Contact MatGoat if you need to change which information the signup form requests. A field missing from this form does not mean the student must create a second account.

When a manual-plan selector appears, assigning the plan does not record a payment. The student can be linked to that plan while still owing the fee. Check the profile and the payment record separately before treating a month as paid.

## Children without email and silent registration

Select the child category and enable **No email address** to create a managed profile without inventing an address. This option is unavailable for adult students. The form uses a student-creation action when it is creating a managed child rather than sending an invitation.

The full form includes a choice for invitation and welcome emails. Disabling it prevents the invitation being sent and disables the later welcome message. When enabled, the welcome message is sent after the student accepts and confirms the invitation. The quick email invitation panel has no equivalent checkbox.

To connect a child to their representative, follow [the parents and children guide](https://matgoat.com/en/support/parents-representatives-children/). Creating a child profile and linking a family are separate operations, with different permissions and consequences.

## Check the result and import an existing roster

After registration, open the profile and check the name, category, plan and family relationship. There is no general “Pending activation” stage that staff must approve for every new student. Access follows the signup or invitation route used for that person.

If you are moving from another system, ask support to import your roster. There is no self-service bulk import wizard in Students. To let students complete their own details, review and share the [academy signup link](https://matgoat.com/en/support/signup-link-and-registration-form/).
