How to take attendance: a class's attendance sheet
Open a class's attendance sheet from Attendance, add or remove students, mark them present, switch someone to observer and mark a whole group present.

Open in MatGoatAn attendance sheet belongs to a specific session: its date, time and class type. You can add students, confirm their presence when preregistration is enabled, and correct mistakes. Registered students and confirmed attendance are not always the same number, so check the academy’s registration mode before interpreting the list.
Open the correct session
In Teacher, open Attendance and select the class from its history. Check date and time before changing the list, particularly when the same class type runs several times a week. A teacher can see sessions for schedules they are allowed to access.

Permission to create or edit schedules is separate from access to their sessions. If a class is missing, an administrator should check assigned schedules rather than only the field identifying who teaches the class. Naming a teacher on a schedule does not by itself provide that access.
Add students and confirm arrivals
- Open the sheet and review students already listed
- Use the add-student action if someone attending is missing
- In preregistration mode, check in each student who has arrived
- Confirm the result before moving to another session

Adding a student through this sheet records presence immediately, including in preregistration mode. Search avoids duplicates for the session and may reject a paused student or a timetable clash. Do not use another profile to bypass that message.
When bookings remain unconfirmed, Check in all displays the pending number. It confirms those bookings together, so use it after checking who is physically present. Direct-registration academies do not display the same check-in controls because the booking journey works differently.
Distinguish participants and observers
The row menu can change a registration between active participant and observer. Observers have a weight of 0.5 in weighted attendance statistics; a normal participating class counts 1, and a graduation class can count 3. Other indicators, including promotion progress, use their own calculation.
The sheet’s attendee counter can include observers and pending bookings. Do not automatically treat it as the number who have already checked in. Review individual presence markers and the confirmed-presence indication when it is displayed.
Correct mistakes and mark a group
Use the row menu to remove an incorrect registration and, in preregistration mode, undo a check-in. Past classes can be corrected: work on the actual session and then review the student’s history to confirm the effect.
If a schedule has an associated group, the group-attendance action makes selecting its members easier. Review the proposed list before confirming. Consult group associations and the two registration modes to keep bookings and attendance consistent.
Frequently asked questions
How does an observer count towards attendance?
In weighted statistics, an observer counts as 0.5 and a regular participant counts as 1. Other indicators, such as promotion progress, use their own calculation.
Can I correct attendance for a past class?
Yes. Open the actual session from Attendance, correct the registration or its status, then check the student's history.
